What a graph to indicate how blessed we are to live at this time. We are living better than the Kings in the 1500′s. This gives us an opportunity at our Independence Day celebration this year to really appreciate our freedoms and advancements. There are good comments at the end of Carpe Diem‘s post.
From Carpe Diem
The chart below is from The Economist and shows a “population-weighted history of the past two millennia” based on “economic output” and “years lived.” According to The Economist:
“By this reckoning, over 28% of all the history made since the birth of Christ was made in the 20th century. Measured in years lived, the present century, which is only ten years old, is already “longer” than the whole of the 17th century. This century has made an even bigger contribution to economic history. Over 23% of all the goods and services made since 1AD were produced from 2001 to 2010.”
MP: It also looks like more economic output was produced in the 20th century than in the previous 19 centuries combined

That is a great perspective. Thanks.
Sadly, the lefties would like us to live as people did in the 1500′s.

Why we would want to return to the past beats me.

This also gives lie to the liberal lament that we’re all worse off since the Reagan 80′s. Wage increases have slowed, but benefits have upticked. Also, the cost of consumer goods, from groceries to fancy electronic gadgets that even the poorest can now afford, consume a smaller percentage of the average paycheck.
Of course, Obama is undoing all that, but I’m sure they’ll figure out a way to blame it on Bush and Reagan.

And the moonbats want us to back to living in caves. All except them, of course.

Excellent point. Let us not enjoy what God has granted us.
