EPA makes first strike! Does anyone know about this new “Order”? It costs $300.00 for the course, but none of the contractors know who, what, where or when to comply. Thanks EPA for the Heads up!!
Home-owners may find themselves unable to complete home repairs or re models after April 22nd. Contractors could end up on the new “Most Wanted” list.
A New law that requires Contractors repairing or painting homes made before 1978 or facilities occupied by children comes into effect on April 22, 2010.
The law requires that contractors be certified and trained in lead-safe work practices. The EPA began processing applications on October 22, 2009 for the ruling originally issued by the EPA on April 22, 2008.
Contractors must also provide owners, tenants, and child-care facilities with a copy of EPA’s lead hazard information pamphlet.
Contractors who fail to comply face large fines.
It may be hard to find a qualified remodeler due to a shortage of accredited trainers if the ruling goes into effect as planned according to The National Association of Home Builders.
