Happy Birthday, Winston Churchill

On this his birthday, let us be inspired by Sir Winston, cognizant of the threats to our freedom and of the power of a great man to lead and inspire a nation with an understanding of his nation’s history (indeed of world history) and a commitment to its traditions, values and freedom, a recognition of the enduring legacy of Western Civilization.

In 1940, upon taking the helm of the British government, he rallied a nation, fearful for its future, its survival even, after the swift defeat of its European allies as the Nazis & their allies enslaved nearly all of continental Europe.

Through it all, he never faltered, always held firm, believing that as dark as things appeared, the West would triumph, victory was on the horizon. He stood up to the naysayers of his day and stood strong against tyranny, defending Western civilization and the long English tradition of freedom under the law. He was a friend of the Jews and other then-oppressed peoples.

Today marks the 135th anniversary of the birth of the greatest man of the century.

CATHOLIC CHURCH REDISCOVERS SPINE

The Catholic Church – states firmly no abortion funding. It  has drawn the line in the sand — society can go to Hell if it wishes, but the Church will not aid and abet in the process.

As they’ve said in the past, if hospitals end up required to perform abortions on demand, they will shut down every single Catholic hospital in the country.

Now that is a bluff we dare not call — Catholic hospitals represent 12.7% of all hospitals in the United States and 15% of all hospital beds. And the Church clarifies that threat — they simply won’t sell them off, but shut them down and, if necessary, tear them down. They will be morally obliged to make certain those hospitals are never used to perform abortions.

“So what?” you say.  Think about it – almost 13% of all hospital beds in the country? This does not include Catholic nursing homes, elder care, hospice care, assisted-living, etc.  Financially the Catholic Church is already in trouble paying out their lawsuits.  Matrix believes this just gives them an excuse to shut doors and not have to cite the ‘unsightly incidences of their past’.

Surely there is one person in either the mis-administration or the Congress that is aware of this?

Obama’s war policy – looking for the exit ramp

When was the last time you heard of a war that claimed  to have a date for “when it will end? Looking forward to how “The One” will spin this on Tuesday night. Let me think. WWII. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Roosevelt stated that on Dec 7, 1943 we will have an exit plan to leave the pacific. So, Japan, hang tight, we will be leaving. What a signal, what a statement.

Violent felon granted clemency by Huckabee

From the Huckleberry PAC comment on the horrendous kiling of four police officers. Sorry. Hucklebery, it just doesn’t cut it. 

Huckabee’s ‘Willie Horton moment’

 Note the passive language and blame-shifting to prosecutors with no explicit mention of Huckabee’s role in granting clemency over the objections of prosecutors:

…Should he be found to be responsible for this horrible tragedy, it will be the result of a series of failures in the criminal justice system in both Arkansas and Washington State. He was recommended for and received a commutation of his original sentence from 1990, making him parole eligible and was paroled by the parole board once they determined he met the conditions at that time. He was arrested later for parole violation and taken back to prison to serve his full term, but prosecutors dropped the charges that would have held him. It appears that he has continued to have a string of criminal and psychotic behavior but was not kept incarcerated by either state.

Acorn – a name change?

Nothing like a good dumpster dive. A rose by any other name? Then we hear how Eric Holder will not do any investigation. How many more days??

ACORN, the troubled community service organization, recently considered changing its name in a bid to rehabilitate its image, according to an internal memo obtained by POLITICO.

 The document, which will be released Tuesday as part of a Republican congressional forum on ACORN, illustrates the internal deliberation the group has undergone after a year of embarrassing scandals.

 The document was found in Dumpster outside of an ACORN office in San Diego, a House Republican aide said. Derrick Roach, an unsuccessful Republican candidate for statehouse in California, took thousands of documents last week from the trash outside the office. An ACORN spokesman confirmed the veracity of the document.
